What is a
Proctor?
The Canadian Coast Guard requires that
all exams be proctored. Someone must register as a Proctor to ensure true testing of knowledge.
When online testing is available, you
will not be able to log in and take the exam without your Proctor present
to log in as well. At this time, online testing is NOT available, just
online studying of the material.
We recommend the following people to register as a
Proctor:
- A teacher
- Your boss
- A co-worker
- A friend
To be a proctor you must agree to meet the following
criteria and ensure that the following rules will be enforced during the exam:
- are a peace officer, justice of the peace, court
official, town clerk, council member, lawyer; or a religious official,
elected representative, a person who has obtained a teaching license; or a
doctor, engineer, or member of a generally recognized professional
organization.
- are not related to the person taking the test
- are of the age of majority in the province or territory
of residence.
- will be present at all times during the exam
- will ensure the person taking the exam is identified
correctly
- will ensure the person taking the exam has no access to
any exam material
- will ensure that if more than one person is taking the
exam, those persons do not share information
- will ensure the person taking the exam does not attempt
to reproduce, save, print or copy the exam or its components.
- will proctor the person taking the exam as per the
above instructions
- will keep your login ID and password confidential
- will provide accurate self identification
